From bulk RNA-seq to spatial single cell discoveries

SCellex is a biotech company developing advanced tools for the single-cell omics field, a key driver of innovation in life sciences. There is a growing need for high-resolution, scalable solutions to accelerate diagnostics, drug discovery, and personalized medicine. A major application area is cancer research, where understanding cellular heterogeneity and drug responses at single-cell and spatial resolution is crucial for developing more effective therapies.

SCellex’s spatial technology is based on patented visual barcoding of single-cell-sized picowells arranged in an array, utilizing random combinations of colored feature barcode beads. Arrays loaded with beads are imaged and analyzed using AI, enabling RNA capture directly from tissue sections or single-cell suspensions in a high-throughput workflow. This versatile barcoding technology also supports high-throughput multi-omics and functional assays.

SCellex also provides RNA-seq services for gene expression analysis. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) is a powerful and widely used method for unbiased, genome-wide measurement of gene expression. Unlike targeted approaches such as qPCR, RNA-seq enables the analysis of all expressed genes in a single experiment, providing a comprehensive view of biological processes and cellular states. With SCellex, bulk RNA-seq is available at a cost comparable to qPCR, making genome-wide gene expression analysis accessible for a wide range of research projects from isolated RNA, fresh frozen tissues and as well from FFPE tissues.
